Today it's time to introduce our 2nd Dave of this current blog series. Known mostly as Doodson, he's been with Patrol Base for over 7 years! Originally working part-time, he finally fell into his full-time position of most days working within our in-store workshop and front of house staff. Doodson is quite well known for his taste in rifles, optics, upgrades and... if you hear someone laughing in a bush, you're about to get shot by him mid game day.
Ninja Doodson also shoots real steel rifles as a hobby, but today we are purely focusing on his 6mm plastic addition. Let's start off with his gear, the very little of it that he runs with.
As we have already mentioned, Doodson has pretty much always run super lightweight. Not quite naked, but also not far off. Generally seen running all year in a t-shirt and combat bottoms, he does opt for a thermal base layer when the winter starts to creep in.
Doodson's latest loadout consists of:
Literally, that is it! When running his tricked out VSR, his spare magazines and speedloaders are simply stored in his pocket and the tactical stock-pouch.
Doodson has owned many guns in his Airsoft life. But today we are focusing on his special two. Always known as being a sneaky sniper, running and gunning a MK23, it wasn't until quite recently he moved onto the ASG - Scorpion Evo hype.
Let's get straight into the upgrade. Dave is all about range, accuracy and consistency and having to tinker with nearly everything. The internals consists of:
Externally Doodson has chopped down the suppressor to submerge it into the handguard some more, installed an HB Industries - EVO Paddle Mag Release and opted for a VORTEX - VIPER PST Gen II 106x24 SFP VMR-2 MRAD scope mounted on a VORTEX - American Eagle Precision QR mount.
Now onto potentially Doodson's move beloved weapon. His fully pimped out Tokyo Marui - VSR-10 Pro Sniper Rifle. This is the railed version fitted with a suppressor and has had some serious time and money spent on it internally.
Let's get straight into it:
As mentioned already, Doodson runs light so all his magazines and spare speedloader of ammo are stocked in the stock pouch of the rifle or in his trouser pockets.
The rifle itself has also had other modifications including a blanked off mock ejection port to reduce sound when the piston smacks against the cylinder head and trigger release. The stock has also been filled with expanding foam too.
Lastly, one of the most common questions Doodson would get asked on a game day is... What scope is that!?! Taken from his real steel background he likes to keep familiar with his optics and slaps on a VORTEX - Razor Gen2 4.5-27x56 (available if you contact us!). The scope has been secured to the sight rail with a VORTEX - Precision Match 34mm Rings.
Finally onto his third pride and joy today. Doodson currently favours (from his collection), his Tokyo Marui - HI-CAPA 5.1 Gas Blowback Pistol finished in Chrome or to others, a Stainless Steel look.
Absolutely nothing has been done to this pistol! It's completely stock other than a slightly filed trigger guard to allow it to drop easily into his BLACKHAWK 1911 holster.
Today we want to introduce to you Dave, mostly known as Heeson to staff because we have another Dave here... We will stick to Heeson for the purpose of this blog. Heeson has been here several years mostly within the two workshops we have. Most days you can see Dave managing the storefront and tinkering away on customer projects as well as a few of his own Frankensteins. One of which is featured today in this very blog.
Heeson is also a face seen many times at HALO MILL - Proving Grounds and mini Instagram famous with his own channel that can be found here.
One for running simple, fast and quietly Heeson has gone down a slimline route for his latest loadout, especially when combined with his favourite custom build sniper rifle right now. Generally, you can see him on the field in jeans or affordable combat trousers. He's proud of running a budget rig too, the 8Fields Tactical - Multi-Mission Chest Rig. Absolutely perfect for storing the essential but also a couple of bangs and smoke for those tricky situations.
The most expensive piece of kit has to be his jacket. See the full breakdown on his latest loadout below:
The pouches haven't been modified at all, they are perfectly suited for pistol magazines as well as the sniper mags as seen in the pictures.
As well as pistol magazines you have room for 5.56 and a few pyro at the same time.
Heeson has had quite the range of guns from AEG to Gas, rifle to pistol and more. His latest and potentially most popular build has to be his cut down VSR rifle.
Based on a WELL - MB03A Heeson has gone against the norm of owning a Tokyo Marui and fully decking it out. Instead, he wanted a budget rifle and see how far he could push it. Externally the rifle has been accessorised with a VORTEX - 3-9x40 VMR-1, chopped down an outer barrel and then finished off with a SWISS ARMS - Universal 23cm Suppressor.
The back of the rifle has had a rifle stock cheek pouch fitted for carrying those sneaky mid game treats. Internally the following surgery has been undertaken:
The suppressor is actually removable too, it isn't just glued on! There is a silencer adaptor, similar to this which was slotted into the outer barrel and secured. But why did he build this super stubby sniper? Simply because someone online said stubby snipers look ugly... we hope those who read this can now disagree and admire his build 😉

Meet the original Jack, Jack Mk1 who was originally front of house staff but now assists in order processing. Jack has been here for a number of years and was originally famous for running through HALO MILL in his camo onesie. Yes... tactical pyjamas.
He even ran that unique loadout outdoors at Proving Grounds! Whereas today, thankfully he has grown into a more "practical" loadout which we bring to you in today's blog.
Jack is one of our lightest runners, not just because of his figure, but the rig and gun are very CQB friendly. Don't let his size put you off though, Jack's energy and also PDR upgrades allow him to run and gun for days!
As usual, let's start from the head down detailing his latest load-out:
With everything on the hip, it can make crawling a little harder but this loadout is primary for CQB / Urban game days. The belt is able to also take yokes/retention straps to take some of the weight and secure it over your shoulders too, should you want to.
The entire battle belt is well balanced by storing his pistol on the right hip and his magazines, grenades and more on the opposite hip to counterbalance the heavy-ish pistol with a loaded magazine.
Onto the rear, you can see the XBIONIC combat shirt is very well ventilated for those sprinting gameplays. These shirts are rare to come across and also very expensive! But they provide excellent ventilation whilst still keeping you warm during winter. This is also very thin, so getting shot whilst wearing this is not pleasant...
Jack's faithful PTS Syndicate Magpul - PDR-C has seen some minor internal tweaks to go along with the extended aftermarket outer barrel and suppressor. Out of the box, these things pack a punch and delivered great range for its size. However now, it's a little part-time sniper rifle almost.
The PDR-C has undergone the following makeover:
The upgrades, both internally and externally are purely for the added range for those occasional outdoor game days, plus it is quite the unique look.
Onto Jack's sidearm, it is a standard Tokyo Marui - TM.025 XDM .40, the main reason was from a previous owner of the WE model, Jack was a huge fan but was seeking something a bit more reliable.
